This was my very first stop-motion animation, which I did for my friend's polymer clay business. They sell kits for making jewelry and decorative items. I asked for as many finished products as they could spare, and they gave me a big bag of necklaces, mini vases, and other crafts. I then evaluated what I could work with and began storyboarding. The process took a while since I wanted it to look as good as possible. I ended up doing a rough run-through of my storyboard, then used that as a reference to create a motion graphics animation with After Effects, making sure the movement was smooth and timed to music. Finally, I used this animation as a transparent layer to align every object for every frame and shot the whole thing from start to finish overnight. You can see the behind-the-scenes video at the bottom of this page.
